If you have been watching the news you may have heard about skyrocketing coffee prices. Well, that is an understatement!
Coffee prices are commodity that is traded on the stock market and apply to every coffee roaster and producer in the world, large or small. In the last 6 months, coffee prices have doubled due to a mixture of events.
Brazil has had unprecedented poor weather causing supplies to drop, at the same time, demand has risen, especially with Asian countries making a slow but steady switch from tea to coffee drinking.
Added to the mix, market speculation is causing extreme price volatility.
We have made some changes at the roastery that allow us to bring back smaller, less costly 12 bags which we hope will help ease this financial pinch.
